GERARD JOSEPH LECLERC

1942 - 2026

With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Gerard "Gerry" Leclerc, who’s loving spirit touched countless lives. Gerry passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre in Winnipeg on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

Born May 15, 1942, to Joe and Marie Rose, Gerry was the second of nine children. His siblings included: Armand (Shelia née Nawrocki), Blanche, Claire (Marvin McKay), Irene (Kel Gerry), Lea (Roland Verley), Lorette (Ron Benson), Louise, and Vickey (Bernie Payne).

Gerry was predeceased by the love of his life, wife Dorothy (née Watts); his parents, Joe and Marie Rose; his sister Irene; his in-laws, Gord and Violet Watts (Pat Baker longtime companion of Violet); and brothers-in-law, Metro Baron, Jim Drinnan, Bill Watts and Ralph McKay.

Gerry lived and worked in several communities throughout the province including The Pas, Swan River, and Brandon. He attended Mathieu College in Gravelbourg Sk., eventually retiring from the railway working for both CN and CP rail during his career. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, playing cards, and he especially enjoyed hockey. Gerry played for The Pas Huskies (back in the day) and he also coached his sons in youth hockey. He also enjoyed dancing. At family gatherings, like socials and weddings, he would often be seen cutting a rug with his wife Dot. He was known for his brylcreem, pompadour hairstyle because, as Gerry would say, "Just little dab'll do ya". He was a proud grandpa, and enjoyed being with his grandkids when time allowed. Although he was somewhat reserved, Gerry helped shape his children’s sense of self, guided them through life’s challenges, and provided unwavering support in times of need. Whether through his quiet strength, heartfelt advice, or simply being present, Gerry’s love left a lasting impression.

Left to carry on Gerry’s legacy are his three children, Valerie (Arthur) Collingridge, Gord (Heather), and Reg (Treva Tilston-Jones), as well as his grandchildren, Linda, Katherine, Amber, Rachel, Celine, Owen and Dray, and great-grandchildren, Daelin, Connor, Michaela, Jayden, Jaxon, Charlee and Malcolm. Gerry was also blessed with great-great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Lochlinn, and Atlas.

The family wishes to thank Cathy and Ron Gerry for their friendship, kindness and loving care they provided Gerry over the past several years.

The family would also like to thank the entire team at Riverview Health Centre for the impact they made in the quality of Gerry’s life in his final days.

In accordance to Gerry's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
